Mirror Yourself

I went for a walk recently. My destination was the top of a mountain with a breathtaking view. When I got there, I looked out in one direction and saw rolling hills, trees, blue sky, and beautiful boulders. Then I turned slightly to the left and the view was completely different. I saw a small city with houses, backyards, and an occasional swimming pool. As I started to turn again, I quickly realized that I was about to take in another completely new and different view. That is when it struck me that life is the same as the view from a mountaintop. It all depends on how we look at it.
When looking at ourselves, we often tend to look from only one direction at first. Many of us look from the direction that sees only shortcomings and flaws. Some of the negative qualities we perceive in ourselves have some basis in reality. But if that is all we are looking at, we are missing the full picture. When we begin to consciously observe ourselves and contemplate the question "Who am I?" we realize that we are multifaceted - unique in many ways and also very much alike.
Figure out what is important to you and what makes you happy. Examine with great attention what you love and what you dislike. Determine what is most important to you and what you really don't care much about. Look at these things objectively, without judgement. Leave no stone unturned as you get to know yourself and learn what makes you the wonderfully, uniquely special person that you are. (Adapted from No Body's Perfect, K. Kirberger)

Hello!!! i read your post!! was really good!! but after reading it i started thinking about it and i realiced that it's really difficult to search inside of your selves.. sometimes i feel that i don't really know my self, it's a bit complicate to me to try to dicover a new view because i already have a view in my mind, also it's difficult to see things in an objective way.. i think everything in life is subjective... everything has a diferent meaning for each person...

well i've got to go.. continue like this is great!!!

bye bye!!

I really like what you wrote. You´re so right, we always tend to look the negative aspects of owr life. For example when I was 9 years old I moved to another city because of my father`s work.I was very sad and angry with my parents;I couldn´t believe it was going to happend AGAIN!.But when I got into the new city and started meeting new people I realised it wasn´t the end of the world. But although I joined easily to the society in that city I´ve always been very sorry for leaving my old friends. But now I realised that the change I did 8 years before has helped me to be the person I am nowadays, and that my really best friends are here. That change made me more mature and stronger, and made me realised that in this life you´re going to meet many peolpe and they could be good or bad.You have to be ready to get over when some of them hurt you.
I thank my parents for giving me the possibility to grow up in this city although all my reproachs.

Yes, it is true. You have to start by searching inside yourself to fully understand what is around you. "If you don't climb the mountain, you can't see the view!", that quote is one of my favourites because there is nothing truer than that. We usually under-estimate ourselves, and we don't see the beauty in our flaws, the imperfection that makes us so perfect, because we're too used to think that to be flawless is to be happy.
This post reminds me of another of my favourite quotes.

"Travel far enough away, my friend, and you will discover something of incredible beauty: yourself"

I saw it some years ago, in a Cirque Du Soleil Book and it happens to be displayed on my main blog page...guess it couldn't be more perfect for this entrance!

I like very much what you wrote because i think that we have to see life on a different way what we usually do it. We need to climb up that mountain to see things that you never imagine but if you don't do it you are going to lose the most beautiful face of life.I feel identifie because when i am at the mountaintop i see life on another way.

very nice the article. And I think that what said in this articel is truth, because one time it happend to me.. When I was in a group the coordinators asked me to think about two defects and two virtues, I quickly wrote the two defects but I couldn´t wrote the virtues!! It´s take me a lot of time to do that. So because of that I start to think that we alwasys see our bad things and not the good ones!!!. So now I asked all you to think about yours virtues because we all have bad things but apart of that we have so many GOOD THING!!!!

Miss great post!really interesting and nice words=D
Allthough I don´t think too much about myself and what I'm and that things,I can say that the things that I really enjoy in life are feeling well with God and my religious life and havin time with people I love(mainly my family and my friends too).I really don't care about appearences and that sort of supperficial things.I really hate my impatience and I like my faith and my relationship with God.

As they all said, i also like what you post and the meaning or message the text can give in only few paragraphs.
I think we allways have to look for the possitive aspects of our life even though we don´t feel satisfy with many things going through arguing many time for an answer to¨why... ¨?, for example, since i was child, i moved from one country to another with my parent because of their works, and because of that, many time, i wish to be like other children whose parent gives them what their child need and all they want......and many times, i really got angry when i ve to listened their comparison about us with peoples which don´t have anything to eat and children of my age that re working to survive or to look after their parent when i´´m complaining or want something....But after all, i want to thank them because although they didn´t spend much time taking care of me, they made me realise that not because we re not sutisfy with what we ve, we ve to complain as it´s other people fault, but to see far and to think in a solution to it for the future with your own capacity and effort because without that, we won´t succeed in anything and won´t valorate what we have and get....etc
As i said, i´m very happy to be part of the family because those change helped me to be more independent, strong, mature...and the person i´m nowaday.
That´s why, we always ve to look objectively because i believe that nobody want to be dislike by other, they just want the best for u

The important things in my life are a lot really...but the most important is without doubt my family,I love it and I really enjoy the moments spent with them. And friends too!they are a really great part of my life.
Family and friends are they ones who helped me a lot to reach what I'm now in my life. And I thenk God he putted so wonderfull people next to me!
In the other hand i don't take much care about the differencies I can have with the other people.i'm really not interested in thinking in the same way as other people or making them think in the same way as me.I found interesting the "options"in what to do according to what eachone think.
